چکیده
This paper discusses the features and applications of interface tracking techniques for modeling deroplet-based microfluidics. The paper reviews the state of the art of methods for tracking and capturing the interface. These methods are categorized as the implicit and the explicit methods. The implicit methods need to reconstruct the interface by reconnecting the markers on the interface. The implicit techniques implicitly describe the interface as a simple function. Thus, complicated topological changes of interface can be handled naturally and automatically. The implicit methods reviewed in this paper are the volume-offluid method, the phase-field method, the Lattice-Boltzmann method and the level-set method. The explicit methods mainly include the boundary-integral methods and the tracking methods.

Droplet-based microfluidics has received extensive research interests due to its superior control over the fluid flow. Conventional passive microfluidic flow-focusing devices confront difficulties in controlling droplet sizes in dripping regime especially when the dispersed phase has a large viscosity. متن کاملElectrostatic charging and control of droplets in microfluidic devices 3
Precharged droplets can facilitate manipulation and control of low-volume liquids in droplet-based microfluidics. In this paper, we demonstrate non-contact electrostatic charging of droplets by polarizing a neutral droplet and splitting it into two oppositely charged daughter droplets in a T-junction microchannel. We performed numerical simulation to analyze the non-contact charging process and...

In this paper, the turbulent air droplet flow inside a single passage of a curved type vane separator has been studied numerically. The simulation is based on the Eulerian - Lagrangian method. For turbulent air flow calculations, a computer code was developed to solve the Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) equations together with the equations of Reynolds Stress Transport Model (RSTM) o...
